The Engineering Change facility provides electronic control over all changes to the product specification.
The stages involved in changing a product specification are:
- Engineering: The engineer creates a new ECO (engineering change order) and assigns to it all products whose specifications are to be amended together. Full bill of material and routing maintenance facilities are available under the control of the Engineering Change Control module
- Submitted: Once all the changes have been made, the ECO is submitted for electronic approval.
- Approval: The nominated approvers are required to approve/disapprove the changes, usually nominating their reasons.
- Release: Upon approval by all parties, the eco can be scheduled for release. At the given date, all changes approved come into effect, and the version number is amended.
At any time, you can view the product specification for previous versions of the product.
